Re: The Big Bang
Like i said on stacks, I believe that a supernatural force created the universe, and that force was ignited by a big explosion similar to the big bang, but then again what caused the explosion to ignite? Interesting question, but I believe in god a different way than the tradition, but fairly similar as well. Hard to explain.
Re: The Big Bang
Like I said on stacks...! lol. Im just gonna copy and paste this over to here..
I am a science believer, due to the fact that religions about god have no proof he exists. I believe everything they have made up is a fake, made by someone messed up in the head.
There IS evidence of the universe expanding. Dark energy moves the universe, and dark matter is evidence of the big bang. The two theories: Big crunch and an empty wasteland.
If there was a god, would he/she want everything in the universe to die a death of being crushed? Would he/she want everything to suffer and die out with no resources?
I wouldn't think so, playing the role of the caretaker of many "Things" in the universe.
Earth was created by asteroids and chunks of rock in space colliding and gravity did the rest. How it is now - was made by a giant asteroid hitting the Earth and creating the moon from pieces. Everything evolves, we are ancestors of monkeys.
How would God create us? And know we would ruin our own Earth by using up the resources he/she has given us?
I dont understand religions, and this is truly pathetic.

The facts are true, but I don't the exact parts.
If you believe god exists, please tell me your reasons of why. Do not include the bible, that was written by someone that took his whole life to write it probably.

I couldn't resist...Like I said on Stacks =P
I think the big bang created the earth, but some greater being (not necessarily God) 'perfected' it. Think how everything helps each other, its just too perfect to happen by accident.

Re: The Big Bang
whether the big bang happened or not, God created everything... "God created the heavens and the earth" - perhaps in creating the earth, God decided to do it by implementing a "big bang?

I think that a supernatural force (possibly God) might've set off the Big Bang, but we may never know.

Re: The Big Bang
I have a theory, instead of explaining how he isnt real.
How do you know who made the bible? Is there any proof of god? I think that someone, that wanted the world to be more peaceful, made up god. If your a christian (I think) that you arent supposed to make sins (Stops killing and cursing), You confess sins (Makes people more truthful), and rely on others for help.
Im not sure about this, but did you ever think that someone like in the government made Christianatity up, to increase the number of good people?

Re: The Big Bang
saying Christianity is a government conspiracy is quite the stretch.. there is very little "proof" because to believe in something, you have to have faith, that's why little kids belive in santa, not that I'm saying Santa and God have any similarities, but there are records showing the authors of the books of the Bible did, in fact, live through the stories they wrote, the stories in the Bible, other than parables, are true, Jesus did live on Earth, and God is the creator, that is what Christian's believe, if there was no God, there would be no Earth, no people, and no space in general, just my thoughts

Earth does not matter comparing to the universe, we are nothing.
So "Faith" is just believing strongly in something, even if there is no proof?

Re: The Big Bang
I'm a Christian, but I have so many doubts about the Catholic faith. I beleive in Jesus and God, but not a lot of the things in the bible. How are you supposed to believe all of it, when it says a guy lived in a whale for 3 days. I read the book of revelations, and that kind of stuff actually really interests me. However, I have a HUGE problem with the Book of Genesis. I know faith means you believe with little knowledge, but to a point. How much proof is there backing up what is written in parts of the bible? Compared to science? It was written over 1500 years ago. There was no publishing firm that would make sure the book was fact. And does it seem strange that God used to talk to people all the time in the Bible, but never does anymore? I'm probably being a terrible Catholic by saying this, but I really need some questions answered.

God did talk to people back then, and these days He still "talks" to us, just in different ways.. of course, He doesn't have actual coversations with us, but He uses signs ans experiences to "talk" to us.. a rainbow is a sign He uses, it's a covenant meaning He will never end creation with water again.. things like that.. He talks to us, we just have to listen closely and pay attention.. other than that, Christianity is faith, and you just have to have it..
as far as stories in the Bible go, a lot of them are not true, just stories to guide us.. Jesus's parables are a great example of this..

Re: The Big Bang
True, but the bible was said to have been completely true, yet it was written by man. I could write anything, but does that make it true? I have a problem with the Apostles Creed as well. The fathers of Christianity broke apart from the Jewish faith, because it was said that they were forced to worship a certain way. The Apostles Creed repeats that, saying theres a certain way to worship.

those are guidelines.. that is how people worshipped back then.. don't take it out of context, things change.. that's like saying 200 years from now when there are flying cars, people should use their old automobiles.. (rough example i know, lol).. and yes, A LOT of the stories in the Bible are true, but some of them were written as advice type stories on how to live your life.. Jesus never said parables were true.. they were stories.

I beleieve entirely in Jesus and what he did, its the rest that I doubt. Like the beginning of the Earth. I beleive we were created from bacteria into multi-cells organisms, eventually leading to primates then us. I also in other galaxies and other life forms, much more advanced than ours.

I doubt there are other galaxies that have any advanced life.. and as far as creation goes.. I believe what the Bible said is true, but science has other views... so maybe, when the Bible says God created man, and woman in man's image, He created man through what science has learned.. I doubt we will ever be 100% clear on it, the Bible can be debated all day long and we will still not be any further along than when we started..

Re: The Big Bang
As far as we know, the universe is endless. How could that be possible? And there are billions of stars, each posibly with their own galaxy. Space is the one thing that is probably my favorite thing to discuss, but its also the one thing that throws me off entirely. If God did create the Earth, why would he create other things trillions of LIGHT years away. Trillions of light years! My theory of the universe is the it does end. Its probably a circluar form surrounded by black holes. Nothing can go on forever. If you think about it, the Earth is a beyond microscopic little object in the universe. Now there has to be something out there besides us. I could go on forever litteraly, but typing takes too long. If God did create the Earth, all he would govern is one extremely miniscule object in the universe. There are so many things I would like to ask God, but he cant answer yet. Its WAY beyond anyones imagination whats out there. Thats probably what I hate the most about living in big cities is that you cant stare out into space and just think. Well, I could go on forever as I earlier said, but you cant truly get into a full out debate over the internet.

I think that God created Earth for His people, and space for His people to enjoy, Jesus lived on Earth, not on some random planet in another solar system.. He sent His one and only Son to the pinnacle of His creation.. He created the solar sytem (in the Bible it says "God created the moon, stars, and sky).. Just my thoughts, but I think He created those places for Us to learn about, but not for others to live on..

Unless theres some massive breakthrough, can you imagine how long it would take to explore?

quite awhile... but I believe a "massive breakthrough" wouldn't happen because I don't think God created it

the creation of the universe is probably very complex, but i think there was a series of cosmic reactions which created matter, which formed together to make cells

I think he gave us all of this to explore, the ocean, space etc. so that we can live life to the fullest. But he probably made other galaxies with other lifeforms to explore. Or just to keep us wondering about what is out there. As I said its beyond anyones imagination what God made and what his plan is. All we can do is trust our religion, which I struggle with. I think too hard about certain things. Its too bad I really only have 1 friend who is also interested in this stuff. My biggest fear is death though, because since I havent really trusted in God, I fear he will reject me. All he askes us to do is spread the good news of him. But why does he have to challenge our faith so much with this other stuff?
